Market-rate spans

Eras where the level is a BIS-observed market rate rather than a decision, summarised at each era's daily extremes.

A market era is a traded rate BIS uses as a proxy for the policy stance, not a rate the bank itself set by decision.

Where these numbers come from

Own change table for the Cash Rate Target from the RBA's A2 release, 1990-01-23 onward (a band, lower/upper on each row, until 1990-08-02 when the RBA moved to a single-point target). Before 1990 the cash rate was a market-determined interbank overnight rate, not an RBA target, so this is BIS-derived from 1976-04-07, the earliest BIS Australia daily observation; the RBA itself dates to 1960 but no daily series covers 1960-1976, left as a gap. BIS Australia daily agrees on 3339 of 3339 overlapping change dates checked (0.0% disagreement).
