NBA and NHL fan maps, with Canada

  • The fan map adds the NBA and the NHL, and every league now includes Canada by province: the Canadiens lead Quebec and the Maritimes.
  • France's 13 regions get their own language pages, and Ligue 1 joins the languages of sport.
  • Seven city leaders are corrected, among them Shanghai's new mayor Zhu Zhongming and Greater Manchester's Bev Craig.
  • The Outlook's currency ranges move from central bank policy rates to money-market rates with this Saturday's update.

Cultural power needs a lever; languages arrive

  • The Nowhere 100 counts a cultural figure only when their fame carries a concrete lever, sized by followers, and its leaving-soon markers follow election dates and announced departures.
  • Languages adds linguistic neighbours with a map, the languages of sport for every club in our leagues, Languages blocks on country and metro pages, and administrative gap and spread boards.
  • Israel's 27 October election result is filed, and Brazil's page now reflects Lula's 2026 runoff win and a provisional Chamber count.
  • On phones, Your board folds into one line showing what moved since your last visit, and fonts now load from our own servers, not Google.
October 202652 entries

Hip hop lineage and the Bronx

  • Lineage, a new Sound page, traces which hip hop artists shaped which and maps their cities.
  • Sound Scenes adds From the Bronx to Hollis, when New York block parties reached the charts.

Ask the index and CFL playoffs

  • Ask the index: a question box on the home page answers from the site's own data and links the page it came from (free sign-in).
  • Languages can now be counted the common way, with Arabic, Chinese, Hindustani, Malay, Persian and German as umbrella languages.
  • The track record now scores our football forecasts against the Betfair exchange close as well as the bookmakers.
  • The CFL hub shows the playoff bracket and Grey Cup odds; Nations aquatics adds places 4 to 8 and the Worlds, and medals now score 8, 7 and 6.

Art hub, Elo races and true-area maps

  • New Art hub ranks cities and museums by the celebrated works they hold, who founded each collection, and where great artists were born.
  • Club football season hubs show the Elo race week by week since 1959-60, and Live Standings now carries the tennis and golf world rankings all year.
  • New Language power board ranks languages by the Metro Power of the cities where people use them; all world maps now use the Equal Earth projection and the Nations board adds combat, winter and aquatic sports.
  • The Studio adds Activate, showing what an activation tool can read of released audiences, and Evaluation checks, which publish the rules' test results.

Languages hub rebuilt around speakers

  • Languages ranked by how many people can hold a conversation in them, with a page for each of hundreds of languages.
  • World maps show where each lingua franca gets you by and how many languages share each country.
  • Names now link through, with flags and sortable headings; the states board has its own tab and the Swiss cantons gain pages.
  • Census and national survey figures fill the language maps, including Arabic in the US, Germany and Spain; prediction picks link to teams.

Languages hub, world attention, sharper UK maps

  • New Languages hub ranks 3,483 states by their first language, and its reach board shows how many people in each country of over 1 million can get by in ten lingua francas.
  • New: Who the World Reads About ranks the Nowhere 100, every country and every metro by Wikipedia readers in every language, month by month and week by week.
  • The Fan Index now counts each team's current and previous Wikipedia season articles by one rule, and every month since September 2025 was recounted.
  • UK metro maps are now drawn from official statistical areas, so Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Belfast cover their whole urban area.

Lula re-elected, Serbia votes, football beyond Europe

  • Brazil's hub files the 25 October runoff (Lula 51.8%, Flávio Bolsonaro 48.2%), and Serbia's adds the provisional count: the Student List won 140 of 250 seats.
  • The Copa Libertadores hub follows the tournament live with a knockout bracket and adds the Copa Sudamericana; a new Beyond Europe page covers the club cups of Africa, Asia, CONCACAF and Oceania.
  • Every board an essay links now ends with a Discussed in card, and metro rankings are recalculated from the latest data, with Navoi and Navoiy merged into one metro.
  • The Studio adds Export by purpose, where only consenting supporters leave as hashed emails, plus a problem-first toolkit, a board scoreboard and an integration map.

Who owns what, sharper metro maps, NFL fan map

  • Team pages show who controls each club, with the evidence, and the Owners board maps owners of several clubs; the network downloads as CSV and Gephi files.
  • UK and Japanese metro maps now follow the towns people commute from, so Inverness covers 5,536 km² (2,138 mi²), not all of Highland.
  • New Fan map: which NFL team each US metro searches for most, and how far every team's following reaches.
  • Metro pages tag where a metro stands out per person, and Live Standings shows today as a timeline on your own clock.

Save a share card, and New Zealand's rate dates

  • Metro, NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL team pages and the index boards can save a share card as an image, sized for a post or a link.
  • The economy hub's calendar adds New Zealand, ten central banks in all, and 2027 dates for Canada and Sweden; the electoral systems table adds recent votes in five countries.
  • Your board shows a national team's flag and its ranking in every sport we rate, and the Sports hub's league list folds by sport on a phone.
  • Twenty-four regions with non-English names, such as Sjælland and Diyarbakır, open again; metro and state pages show their data date, and Lisbon's map now covers the city.

Balkan election hubs, Value Metro Index and Cite this

  • New election hubs for Serbia, with Yugoslavia since 1920, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina; Serbia's 25 October vote leads its page.
  • New: the Value Metro Index divides every metro's power score by what things cost there, and the economy hub lists the next rate decision at nine central banks.
  • Every index board now ends with a Cite this line, a Corrections page logs data fixes, and the Universal Index and Nowhere 100 gain a 30-day column.
  • Your board ranks European clubs on the club football ranking, with crests; NBA, NHL and NFL season pages carry live records, and tennis adds a last-eight table.

Where to watch, new games and Outlook ranges

  • Every league in Live Standings now names where to watch it in the US and the UK, with the main broadcasters for each.
  • Chart details now open right where you touch, and every NBA team-season since 1946-47 sits on one era-adjusted chart.
  • The Outlook shows 1, 6 and 12-month ranges for 13 stock indices and 14 currency pairs, each tested on 20 years of history.
  • Press Ctrl K to search, including London vs New York and companies; Start here adds Your board and guided trails; Draw the line and Metrodle are new games.

Sortable tables, economy tabs and British clubs

  • Sixty-seven more tables sort by any column, election and constitution results included, each with a Sort menu on a phone and still opening in its usual order.
  • On today and Coming up in Live Standings now name the UK channel for every televised football game, Champions League nights included.
  • New Yields and Countries tabs rank ten-year bond yields against policy rates and put each country's rate, yield, inflation, debt and deficit on one board.
  • The Great Britain and Ireland hub ranks every British and Irish club, Premier League to Cymru Premier, on one Universal scale.

Regional hubs: tentpole rows, a Regions area, GB and Ireland

  • A Regions area on the Sports hub and a Regions group in the Sports menu link the Australia and New Zealand, North America, and Great Britain and Ireland previews; cricket, rugby and footy share one menu group.
  • Each regional year chart leads the page, with regional, Continental, World tentpole and Motorsport rows, named finals, sport icons and links to every league hub.
  • Motorsport rows: NASCAR, the Indy 500 and two Grands Prix in North America; Supercars and Bathurst in Australia; the BTCC, the Isle of Man TT and Formula E in Britain.
  • The Great Britain and Ireland preview charts five divisions, the cups by edition, the home nations on combined rows, Gaelic games, cricket, both rugby codes, the Women's FA Cup, women's rugby and netball.

North American calendar by sport, and college hockey

  • The North American calendar shows one row per league, grouped by sport, with a By level switch; men's college hockey and the Frozen Four join it.
  • The basketball calendar gains the NCAA men's and women's seasons, with the tournament and the Final Four marked.
  • The basketball calendar now backs off when Wikipedia rate-limits it and keeps the last good version, so EuroLeague 2026-27 is back.

NRL Elo ratings, and shorter calendars on phones

  • NRL Elo ratings since 1908 are live on the NRL hub, on a new history page and on every club page, matching the AFL.
  • In the off season the AFL and NRL hubs lead with Elo and fold last season's ladder away; a new ladder brings it back.
  • The Sports calendar shows two events a week on a phone, with the rest a tap away.
  • On Against Expectation, the six-league and money-against-football boards now sort by any column.

Sports calendars: every sport on one scale

  • A new Sports calendar shows the next five weeks across football, cricket, rugby, basketball, North America, and tennis and golf, with finals and marquee events first.
  • Rugby union, football, basketball, North American sports, and tennis and golf each get a full calendar of tournaments, windows and seasons, beside the cricket one.
  • Super Smash joins The T20 circuit and the cricket calendar, so New Zealand's franchise league sits with the other leagues.
  • Events carry plain names, and a usual window is drawn dashed until its dates are confirmed.

International Volleyball: women's world ranking and LOVB Pro

  • The International Volleyball hub adds our women's world ranking beside the men's, from 8,400 women's internationals since 1952 and updated each morning.
  • LOVB Pro joins the hub: the 2026 standings, every result and both champions so far, with the 2027 results added each morning in season.

A clearer Sports menu, with every index up front

  • The Sports menu opens on an Overview: the Zone Zero Cup and every other index with a line each, then Live & records, Stories & history and Money & owners.
  • Women's Sports and Live Standings sit in the menu's top row, with how many leagues are in season now; the home page, both menus and /sports share that count.
  • A Leagues tab holds every league under seven families, now with Chess, a small dot for those in season, and a Men's / Women's / All switch remembered on your device.
  • /sports follows the same order, Rankings first, with a Women's Sports card at the top; on a phone the Rankings group opens first.

The Women's Universal Index: women's clubs on one scale

  • A new board ranks women's clubs from seven leagues together: the WNBA, the NWSL, Europe's leading football clubs, the PWHL, LOVB volleyball, the WPL and The Hundred (W).
  • Each league is scored against its own spread (1500 + 100 × z); the smallest leagues are damped toward the middle, and the method says by how much.
  • Refreshed every morning, with movement since yesterday, the top five per league and every team's best week since the 2016-17 season.

Champion badges, freshness stamps and 2027 season calendars

  • Live Standings, the Universal Index and Policy Rates now say when their data was last refreshed and when the next run is due, in your own time zone.
  • Short question-and-answer blocks at the foot of Live Standings, the Universal Index, Title Odds and the Metro Power Rankings, drawn from each page's method notes.
  • The season badges now follow the published 2027 MLB calendar from spring training, and the NHL and NFL 2026-27 dates; the WNBA's 2027 dates are provisional until the league publishes them.
  • The WNBA, World Series and Japan Series champions now get the gold champions badge across the site, as the NBA and NHL do, within hours of the final.

New Zealand forecast: who becomes prime minister

  • The Who forms the government card now gives each leader's chance of becoming prime minister, with the chance that no government forms.
  • The parties' coalition pledges are refreshed to 15 October, including National and the Greens ruling each other out.
  • Israel: the threshold card now says the Supreme Court overturned the bans on Ra'am and the Joint List on 2 October, so both are on the ballot.

Universal Index: the history now starts in January 1946

  • The all-time board, the time machine and the peaks now reach back to January 1946: Torino's Grande Torino, Honvéd's golden team, the Browns of the AAFC and the Minneapolis Lakers.
  • Before the club season hub (1959-60), each club season is estimated from its country's national-team strength and its league standing, with weekly movement from real results.
  • The club pool before 1959 adds West Germany's Oberliga finalists, the Mitropa and Latin Cup clubs, and any other European top-flight club whose estimate clears the season's bar.
  • Clubs outside the big five and West Germany in 1946-54 carry an est. mark: their numbers are the least certain on the board.

Universal Index: a North America filter and fuller club histories

  • A new North America pill on the daily and all-time boards shows just the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL, ranked among themselves beside each team's overall place.
  • Once a club has made the club pool, it stays on the board in later seasons while it plays in its top division. The pool still sets the yardstick.
  • European finals played after the summer break, and the delayed August 2020 knockouts, now count for the season they belong to.

A home for women's sport

  • New Women's Sports hub: today's best women's national sides in football and basketball, and the NWSL and WNBA title favourites from our simulations.
  • Compact live tables for the NWSL, WSL, Liga F, the Women's Champions League and the WNBA, plus last season's final college top five and champions.
  • The most valuable team in each women's league, the honours leaders, and a link to every women's page on the site. A Women's Universal Index is coming.

Europe's other cups join the Universal Index club pool

  • Clubs that reached the last 16 of the UEFA Cup, Europa League, Cup Winners' Cup, Fairs Cup or Conference League now join the club pool, in every era.
  • About 300 clubs join the history since 1959; Ajax, Anderlecht, Benfica, Rangers and Porto gain the most weeks in the top 10.
  • The Who gets in panel and the method notes state the new rule in plain words.
  • A new ± column beside each Universal score shows how far a club or nation moved since the last update, green for up and red for down.

College basketball: every national champion and the NIT

  • Each men's season page now names every national champion it has: the NCAA winner from 1939, and the Helms and Premo-Porretta selections back to 1896.
  • A new section lists the NIT and the other postseason tournaments each year: who took part, the champion and runner-up, and the NIT Final Four and final score.
  • Every title and Final Four stands as it happened; results the NCAA later struck carry an asterisk. The NIT now matches the published record year by year.
  • New views: conference power over time, seeds and Cinderellas, and college basketball by metro, led by Raleigh-Durham.

College basketball gets season hubs and a live 2026-27 season

  • Every men's season from 1896 has its own page: champion, NCAA bracket, AP poll by week from 1949, conference tables, conference tournament winners and runners-up, and Elo.
  • Women's NCAA tournaments from 1982 each get a page with the champion, Final Four and how far every team went.
  • Live 2026-27 hubs for men and women, and AP Top 25 boards on Live Standings, fill in by themselves from tip-off on 1 November.
  • The title odds page now covers every league we track: KHL and CBA races, decided cards for AFL and NRL, and a list of leagues with no forecast yet.

A clearer privacy notice for both sites

  • The privacy page now sets out, activity by activity, what we hold, why, on what legal basis and for how long.
  • It names who runs the sites, gives one address for every privacy question and request, and explains your rights and how to complain.
  • The sign-in page now links to it, so you can read how your data is used before you sign in.

World Heritage and Brain Flow join the Mind of the Metros

  • New World Heritage page: every UNESCO site mapped to its metro and country, with Creative Cities, Intangible Heritage and inscriptions year by year.
  • New Brain Flow page: where prize winners were born against where they did the work, by era, and the leading metro and country in each decade since 1901.
  • Cricket grounds that changed name now count as one ground, and team pages show each venue's city once.
  • The college football poll grid fits a phone screen, and Brazil's Chamber results before 1994 show seat losses with their minus signs.

Mind of the Metros reaches the writers

  • Literature and Peace laureates now count where they lived when the prize was awarded, so writers appear on the metro boards.
  • Nobel scientists are credited to their institutes more completely, and the 2026 laureates are in, including Economics.
  • The hub now says how many laureates were born outside every metro and count to their country only.

The Universal Index: Nations gets its own page

  • The Nations board has its own address, /sports/universal/nations, and its own card on the homepage beside the clubs board, with today's top three national sides.
  • Both boards now open with the same header: today's best club and today's best nation, each a link to its board. Old Nations tab links redirect.
  • The national-teams hub and every nation page show where that country's sides rank on the Nations board, code by code.
  • The Zone Zero Cup and the Nations board are now described apart: the Cup rolls every sport into one score per country, the Nations board ranks each national team within its sport.

The KHL joins Live Standings

  • Live Standings adds the KHL: both conference tables, read from the league's own site, with the playoff line after eighth.
  • Playoff and Gagarin Cup odds come from our own simulation of every remaining game, and will follow the series once the playoffs start.
  • Every KHL game now appears in On today, Recent results and Coming up.

NPB's Climax Series and Japan Series, tracked

  • The NPB hub now carries the postseason: both Climax Series stages and the Japan Series as a bracket, updated twice a day, with the Pacific and Central champions' one-win advantage shown.
  • Live Standings adds the NPB series rows above the two league tables, and the Japan Series odds now follow the series state, so an eliminated club reads 0.
  • The Games page under Predictions gains a league tab row, a day strip and team crests, with shareable filtered links; the digest card and the Next-up strip now show only the major leagues and top-level internationals.
  • Compare and the CSV exports on the prediction pages now sit behind a free Google sign-in, with a preview for everyone else; the Fan Attention Index already worked this way.

Three more leagues valued, and a richer daily Digest

  • Team Valuations now covers Ligue 2, the 2. Bundesliga and Premiership Rugby on the League Explorer, each club valued from published budgets, accounts or deals and labelled with how.
  • Maccabi Tel Aviv is revalued from its 2026 stake sale, at about $172 million.
  • The Digest numbers each day's edition, marks quiet days, adds a seven-day archive rail and a page for every story.
  • A new Digest method page explains how stories are chosen and scored.

Who the sports funds own, and steadier Champions League odds

  • Sports Deals gains Fund Portfolios: every team stake held by Arctos, RedBird, Ares, Sixth Street, Apollo, Blue Owl and other funds, with what they paid and what the stakes imply, each from a sourced deal.
  • Several deals are corrected from fresh sources, including Chelsea's 2026 stake sale in pounds and Benfica's lapsed sale, which no longer counts as a valuation.
  • Champions League season odds now come from a fixed simulation seed, so they move only when results or ratings do.
  • Campinas and the new Bragança Paulista metro area have their own boundaries.

The Greatest Games as a hub; tennis leaves the nations board

  • The Greatest Games is now a hub with its own page for each of ten sports, led by each sport's signature game, with a tab row to move between them.
  • Tennis has left the Universal Index nations board: a national total of Grand Slam places was too aggregate for a view of national sides.
  • A new Games page under Predictions lists every rated fixture for the next two weeks, day by day, with our odds and the market's; the Universal Index page keeps only its No.1 forecast.
  • Cricket's own rankings now show a provisional month-to-date table every Tuesday, with the published month-end table one tap below.

Morocco's new head of government; NHL loss totals corrected

  • Morocco's 2026 election now records Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as head of government, the country's first woman in the post, appointed on 29 September in place of Aziz Akhannouch.
  • NHL franchise, season and Presidents' Trophy tables now show the correct regular-season loss totals after a workbook recount.
  • College football's season archive and champions chart now admit a season the day its champion is recorded, rather than waiting for February; neutral-site games on the live strip read vs instead of at.

League ownership rules, and playoff odds that follow the bracket

  • A new League Ownership Rules page sets out, league by league, whether private-equity funds may invest, how much they may own, and the limits on passive and multi-team stakes, each cell sourced and dated.
  • When the NBA and NHL playoffs begin, their prediction pages drop eliminated teams and show each club's road to the title from the live bracket, including the NBA play-in.
  • All seven season simulations now pass automated checks on every run, and their method cards say so.
  • Haifa, Netanya and Vienna metro boundaries are redrawn against the current map data.

Sports deals tracker and verification labels on every model

  • A new Sports Deals page lists 101 sourced team transactions with stake, price, implied full value, buyer type and deal structure, linked from Owners and Valuations.
  • Every model and dataset now carries a verification tier on its method card (Verified, Tested, Reviewed or Provisional), explained on a new methodology page.
  • Title-odds cards no longer name the leftover 'Other' share as a favourite; the Champions League hub now leads with Paris Saint-Germain.
  • Fan Attention now covers the Texas Rangers and the Athletics, so every MLB team page carries it.

Tennis joins the Nations board; lighter Mind of the Metros pages

  • Tennis joins the Universal Index Nations board: every Grand Slam singles draw since the 1968 French Open, rated by how far each nation's players went.
  • Mind of the Metros prize and laureate pages load several times faster, showing recent years first with the full history one tap away.
  • Fan Attention home and global views now add up exactly to each team's twelve months of page views, and every covered team page offers the index to signed-in readers.
  • The NRL hub's State of Origin line no longer calls next year's series in progress out of season.

Fan attention on team pages, NBA games behind

  • Signed-in readers see each team's Fan Attention rank, twelve-month trend and value per unit of attention against its league, on team pages across fifteen leagues.
  • The Fan Attention Index gains Home market and Global footprint views: how much attention each team draws at home and how far it reaches beyond.
  • NBA season standings show games behind the division leader and the playoff line, with play-in places from 2021, at every week of every season.
  • The NRL hub no longer counts the 2026 season twice, and the privacy policy now states how long visit records and dormant accounts are kept.

The Mind of the Metros opens

  • Nobel, Fields, Abel, Turing and ten more prize families are credited to the places that produced the winners.
  • Rankings by metro and by country show where laureates worked and where they were born, with a searchable list of every laureate.
  • Awards history runs year by year back to 1901, with each winner linked to their metro.
  • A new chess page ranks the top 100 FIDE-rated players and every federation by the average rating of its top ten.

Title odds by sport, a Back button, the Rugby League World Cup

  • The title odds page is rebuilt by sport, with badges, a finder, our odds beside the market's and a line showing how each race has moved; it now leads the home page and every league hub.
  • Every team page shows its title chances in each race it is still in, including every club left in the Europa League and Conference League, and knocked-out sides drop out the same day.
  • The 2026 Rugby League World Cup is tracked on the rugby league hub and Live Standings: tables, the bracket, results and our own match and title odds.
  • Every page now has a Back button, Team Valuations filters by sport then league, and the Fan Attention Index opens on the latest month with any range up to a year.

Every reference now looks ahead, and every forecast is scored

  • A new track record page scores every forecast the site makes once the result is in, with calibration by topic and our model beside the market.
  • Title odds now cover 50 leagues and tournaments, from La Liga and the Bundesliga to the World Cup, each back-tested on past seasons.
  • Team, country and competition pages show what happens next, with upcoming match odds on the Universal Index and the next number one.
  • New forecasts for the F1 title, the 2027 Rugby World Cup, the LA28 medal table, the next tennis and golf majors, and who leads after coming elections.

A new home page, site search and a Politics section

  • The home page opens with four ways in, search finds any metro, country, leader, team or billionaire, and the menu has six sections with new Politics and Culture pages.
  • Election forecasts show an 80% range, the Philippines adds every Senate and House election since 1987, and an early read of the 2028 US race arrives with the midterms.
  • Data rooms explain each flagship dataset, every valuation names its source, third-party lists are pages only, flagged names carry a labelled badge, and 131 older wars gain battle deaths while 26 get corrected sides.
  • Keyboard users can reach every menu and skip to content, faint text is easier to read, and score details open with a tap instead of a hover.

Brazil's runoff forecast learns from the first round

  • Brazil's runoff forecast now carries half of the first round's polling miss, when pollsters underrated Flávio Bolsonaro, and the page says so beside the polls.
  • Valuations completes Brazil's Série B; its league explorer now colours each sport, opens a team on click and filters by the team's home country.
  • A new midterms map shades every Senate and governor race by who the forecast favours, and Spain's 29 November election joins the elections hub, homepage and Ask the polls.
  • Every chart on the site now reads properly on a phone: full-size labels, and a tap or drag shows the exact figures in a line under the chart.

Champions adds open-ended feats, from the Grand Slam to the treble

  • New on Champions: titles held by whoever last achieved them, each with a full honour roll: tennis's Calendar Grand Slam, the International and European Trebles, rugby's Grand Slam and undisputed heavyweight champions.
  • The Triple Crown is now open-ended too, and nine motorsport titles from MotoGP to Formula E carry their next title date; Elfyn Evans is the new WRC champion.
  • Valuations adds every remaining Argentine and Turkish top-flight club, our own figures for 34 promoted or relegated clubs from England to Brazil, and refreshed NPB values.
  • Election forecasts now count first-round polls among decided voters only, which would have cut our miss on Brazil's first round by a third.

Valuations explorer, college sport's giants, and a cleaner value column

  • Team Valuations adds an interactive league explorer: every team as a dot by league, with sport filters, search, log or linear scale and side-by-side comparison, all saved in a shareable link.
  • New on Valuations: each league's entry price, median and share of all value, who owns it, a log of what changed, and figures over three years old marked.
  • Cricket joins the board, all ten IPL franchises and the eight Hundred teams from real sales and Hurun's 2026 values, plus Ohio State, Texas and 11 more college programmes. More team pages now show their value.
  • Football splits into divisions, owners link to their portfolios, and our own valuations cover 17 promoted or relegated clubs and 16 teams with no published figure, so every CFL and NPB club now has one.

Spain's snap election forecast; athletics joins the index

  • Team Valuations shows one row per team, the highest published figure with its source marked right, and The Owners, now in the Business menu, names who controls every club on it.
  • Twenty-five pages, Valuations and Owners among them, open with one line above the board, and Formula 1 standings now update live between races.
  • Athletics joins the Universal Index, scored from every Olympic and World Championships final since 1948, beside a new Strength now table of countries across all codes.
  • Spain's 29 November snap election joins the forecasts: every province modelled with D'Hondt and the 3% threshold, giving seat ranges and the chance PP and Vox reach a majority.

Horse racing, college football seasons and a cleaner Digest

  • A new horse racing hub covers every Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont winner, the 13 Triple Crown winners, and the jockeys and trainers who won most.
  • The Universal Index adds national basketball, hockey, handball, volleyball and baseball, associate cricket and tier-two rugby sides, and IPL franchises; our Elo now replaces the FIBA and World Rugby rankings.
  • College football gets a hub for every season since 1869, with weekly AP and playoff polls, Elo ratings for every game, the best teams of all time, bowls, awards and the MacGuffin chain.
  • The Digest opens with What's on, the day in numbers and five lead stories, with markets and calls beside the filters, later stories paged, and the archive on its own tab.

Friendlies count for national sides, and CFL records stay current

  • National football on the Universal Index now counts friendlies at a reduced weight, halved again from 2018, and invitational cups with them; the men's Olympics, under-23 since 1992, are left out.
  • CFL team pages keep this season's record in step with the live standings between site updates, so the season table and the header always agree.
  • The international football hubs now rank nations by our own Citizen of Nowhere Football Elo Ratings, updated each morning, and FIFA's men's and women's world rankings update themselves after each release.
  • Yesterday in the numbers, a short daily recap of the biggest moves in our own data, now sits near the top of the homepage.

Israel's threshold, four football hubs, national sides on one scale

  • Israel's forecast shows who clears the 3.25% threshold: each small list's chance of making the Knesset, and the government bloc's simulated seats, from a model tested on every election since 2013.
  • The fan index leads with this month, week by week, and slides back through past years; logos reach every index; How the games work sets out game rules; the Digest sets our models against Polymarket.
  • The Universal Index adds Nations: men's and women's football, rugby and cricket on one scale since 1946. EuroLeague forecasts join Predictions; WNBA odds follow the live bracket.
  • Hubs for the Süper Lig, Liga MX, Brasileirão and Argentina's Primera, with every official champion and Brazil's 28 state championships. 386 clubs gain pages; the MLS hub adds the NASL.

NHL and NBA forecasts, US midterms, and who governs New Zealand

  • The NHL and NBA hubs and their 2026-27 pages carry NFL-style Elo power rankings updated each morning, and the Universal Index's daily board takes the weekly board's shape, dated by the games it holds.
  • US elections: every midterm since 1858 sits in the chronology, each presidential election shows the Congress it produced, and chambers are labelled by who controlled them, independents with their caucus.
  • New Zealand's forecast now asks who forms the government: National-led, Labour-led, another arrangement or none, each party's chance of being in it, and a House that grows with overhang seats.
  • NHL and NBA season forecasts join the predictions hub, with championship-market odds in the preseason prior, and eliminated clubs leave the MLB board.

Motorsport, MLB and NHL seasons, and the Digest

  • The Digest carries our own numbers under each story, a weekly Sports industry events card, and Where we stand, our live calls with what would prove them wrong.
  • Prediction markets now come from DraftKings, FanDuel, Polymarket and ESPN, and the NHL hub now shows the season's standings from opening night.
  • Motorsport gets a home: thirteen champion rolls across ten series, each its own scrolling block, every circuit mapped to its metro, and a NASCAR page with team bases.
  • Every MLB and NHL season has a page; the Universal Index puts five leagues on one weekly scale since 1959, with team badges, hub links and a Tuesday slider; season lights now follow the data everywhere.

Predictions leads with the favourites; the Fan Index gets a Latest month

  • The Predictions page opens with the two title favourites in every live hub, NFL, MLB, College Football, the Premier League and the Champions League, each with the date its model last ran.
  • Biggest movers now shows each team's odds before and after and the two dates compared, one team per league, recalculated at every refresh.
  • The owners board adds the Koch family's 10% of the New York Giants and the Briger family's 3.2% of the 49ers.
  • The Fan Attention Index adds a Latest month tab for signed-in readers: last month's attention on its own, and a weekly look at the month so far that becomes the official figure when the month ends.

The NHL opener, a Predictions menu, election results

  • Russia and Morocco file their September results (United Russia 349 of 450, badged a managed vote; PAM first on 97 of 395) and the Just voted board now lists every filed result, presidential winners included.
  • Predictions and the Time Machine get their own top menu; the Spectrum runs in world power order; the Nations League shows its four leagues' groups on Live Standings and the International hub.
  • The NHL joins Live Standings for its 29 September opener with results, fixtures and daily playoff odds, and the homepage's in-season strip now follows the data, so the AFL leaves the day after its Grand Final.
  • The Fan Attention Index joins the homepage indices, now nine in a 3x3 by menu; MLB team pages carry one row per season; every km² carries its miles; beyond the homepage a Google sign-in follows three free pages.

Fiscal, Ask the polls and NFL EPA arrive

  • A new Fiscal tab on the economy hub tracks government debt, deficits and spending by country, alongside the existing Rates, Housing and Prices boards.
  • Ask the polls, a new tab on the elections forecast hub, answers a question about any tracked race grounded in the site's own forecast data.
  • NFL EPA ratings join the NFL hub as an opponent-adjusted rating alongside Elo, and the Spectrum places every government's executive and legislature on one left-right scale, with evidence tiers shown for each.
  • MLB postseason odds now lead with the betting market: sportsbook and exchange lines price each game, the model fills in until a line exists.

MLB and WNBA playoff brackets arrive

  • The MLB and WNBA hubs carry series-by-series playoff brackets, and WNBA playoff games join the Live Standings strips; MLB follows Tuesday.
  • 127 more boards sort on every column on desktop and phone, the Ledger gains a model-versus-market disagreement board and a results calendar, and the midterms battleground board arrives.
  • The Heartbreak Index now rescores itself every week as seasons close; Fremantle's 2026 Grand Final is priced.
  • MLB playoff odds no longer count rained-out games ESPN never closed, so a clinched club reads as clinched.

The owners board now covers every team

  • Every team on the owners board now has an owner row, after 40 more sourced rows from overnight research.
  • Eight handball clubs carry a clearly marked, unverified placeholder until their owners are confirmed, due by late October.

Fan Attention Index compares sports fairly

  • The Fan Attention Index covers 770 teams, scales each league to its market for the All view, and is free with a Google sign-in; everyone else sees the top 20.
  • New Attention over time page shows how teams and leagues move, from June 2025 on, after bot traffic that inflated football pages until mid-2024.
  • Valued vs attention now works in every league with three or more valued teams, and college football and basketball programs are valued separately.
  • Build your own starts from sports, and Team Valuations and Owners now cover more than 600 teams across college, NPB, CFL, rugby, handball and volleyball.

A Fan Attention Index for 660 teams

  • The new Fan Attention Index ranks 660 teams by the attention they draw on Wikipedia in every language, blended with Google Trends inside each league.
  • It covers the US major leagues, college sport, global club football, women's sports and twelve world leagues, each with its own ranking plus an All view that compares across sports on one scale.
  • Where a valuation exists, the table sets it beside attention, and the methodology page explains every step and limit.
  • Security hardening: the public metro API accepts real slugs only, admin changes verify their session, and standard security headers go out with every page.

What just voted, beside what votes next

  • The UK polling chart's 2024 election point was showing Labour 10 points low; it now matches the real result, and Labour leads the party list.
  • The elections page gains a Just voted board: every result filed in the last six months, newest first, with who finished largest and the turnout.
  • The UK polling average was missing 82 polls whose dates the reader never saw; they are back, and twelve pollsters now feed the average rather than eleven.
  • Eight election records carried a wrong date, five of them Greek contests from the 1870s to 1915 stamped with this year. All are corrected from the original sources.

Sweden's 2026 general election is in

  • The Swedish hub carries the 13 September result: seats and vote shares for all eight Riksdag parties, taken from the Election Authority's final count.
  • No government is recorded yet. Swedish coalition talks run long, so the hub will name a prime minister only once one takes office.
  • Two cricket champions are in: Antigua & Barbuda Falcons won the Caribbean Premier League on 20 September, and Galle Gallants won the Lanka Premier League on 8 August.

Forecasts that lead with the answer

  • Every prediction hub now opens with one sentence naming the favourite and its chance, with the move over the past week. The NFL hub adds a division heat board, and the index lists the week's biggest movers.
  • NBA season pages show the playoff seeds as they stood each week, once every team has played five games. The slider now sits between the chart and the table, and both state the date it is set to.
  • NFL season pages gain the year's award winners and every All-Pro selection, under the names the clubs carried that season.
  • The homepage and the daily digest carry a link to subscribe to the essays on Substack, and Writing joins the About menu.

College football ranks, and the NBA week slider

  • College football fixtures and results carry the live AP poll ranking everywhere, switching to the CFP ranking once that is published.
  • Coming up on Live Standings now looks three days ahead, and the football sections run in a fixed country order with Brazil, Argentina and Mexico added.
  • On NBA season pages the week slider moves the standings table with it, so a week in midseason shows the record as it stood rather than the final one.
  • The NBA hub gains a short NBA Cup finals section, and the Champions board gains the County Championship and nine other cricket competitions.

Baseball joins the live event strips

  • MLB and NPB games now appear on Live Standings under On today, Recent results and Coming up, alongside the sports already there.
  • Coming up looks further ahead, so the list is not empty on a quiet evening.

Every NBA season, week by week

  • New NBA season pages: eighty seasons back to 1947, each with the playoff bracket drawn as two conferences meeting at the final, the twenty best games of that year, and a table you can rewind to any week.
  • The NBA hub now opens on the 2026-27 season and its field rather than the year that just finished, and season tables keep the regular season, the postseason and the total apart.
  • Rating charts on NBA and NFL season pages read in dates rather than week numbers, and go dashed for the weeks after a team's season ended. College football fixtures carry the current poll rank, not a frozen one.
  • Hockey and basketball standings name the season the way a reader does, as 2025-26 rather than 2026, and the hockey board follows the NHL's new 84-game season.

Recent results shows every final again

  • Recent results on Live Standings lists every finished game again, after a change at our score supplier quietly dropped about half of them, including 10 of 20 Premier League games on one weekend.
  • The World Cup pages follow the knockout rounds through to the Final, rather than stopping in mid July.

New champions appear the day they are crowned

  • A new Grand Slam, golf major or AFL and NRL premier now reaches the Champions board and the tennis and golf hubs within minutes of the result, rather than waiting for the next site update.
  • The Zone Zero Cup gains a tier letter for every nation, and two new views that rank winter sport and summer sport separately: Norway is 20th overall but 3rd in winter and 25th in summer, and Canada tops the winter board.
  • The Cup has started recording a weekly snapshot, so from next week each nation carries an arrow showing whether it gained ground on the typical nation of its own continent, rather than simply whether its score moved.
  • The national teams hub lists every team again, after a fault shipped it empty.

Ownership changes appear within minutes

  • Confirmed changes of team ownership now reach The Owners and Team Valuations within minutes, rather than waiting for the next site update.
  • AFC and CAF Champions League fixtures name every club, including sides not yet in our club records, instead of showing TBD.

A daily news digest and clearer standings

  • The S&P 500 page's index-changes feed shows its history again: 61 entries back to October 2023, and the business leaders board tracks CEO changes daily, picking up John Ternus at Apple.
  • New From the Digest page: every story from each day's digest with one line on why it matters, an archive back to 20 June, and a What's on panel of the leagues in season and the next elections.
  • Every story shows its topics, themes and sport, and each tag filters the last 60 days. Metro and country pages carry In the news, and the homepage now leads with the digest.
  • Live standings carry a sport icon throughout, opening a sport opens every competition beneath it, national-team games sit in their own International section, and the CFL is back with its fixtures.

Ownership updates: Seahawks, Liverpool, Formula 1

  • The team owners board records the Khosla family's Seahawks purchase closing on 3 September, completing the record $9.6B sale from the Paul Allen estate.
  • Liverpool's row now carries the strategic minority stake FSG agreed to sell to a consortium of Amit Bhatia, the Mittal family, Jeff Bezos and Eduardo Saverin, with FSG keeping control.
  • In Formula 1, Woody Johnson joins Aston Martin's minority investors, and Alpine's entry tracks Otro Capital's expired lock-up on its 24 percent stake.

Playoff and title odds for every NFL week since 1920

  • Every NFL season page since 1920 shows each team's playoff and title odds after any week, through the playoffs to the final, with honours filling in as they are earned and the seeds kept through the bracket.
  • Money against football: the frontier of club-seasons, a board of who grows players against who buys them, and a director's ledger grading five seasons of signings by what they fetched or are worth today.
  • Formula 1 title odds after each race on the F1 hub and Live Standings; the Zone Zero Cup's golf pillar rebuilt on the women's majors, the OWGR and Rolex depth and the nation team events; The World in 2100 at index eight.
  • Live Standings opens with today, recent results and the three days ahead across every league with a fixture feed; a Prices tab on the economy hub carries US and UK consumer prices monthly and every country's index.

Every country to 2100, the money ledger, the season grid by touch

  • A money ledger for 205 clubs in six leagues: fees paid and received each season since 2012-13, and what the squad gained in value once the trading is netted out, on club pages, season hubs and /sports/expectation.
  • Every country hub runs to 2100 on the UN median, bands and scenarios; /countries/2100 ranks 211 countries, 46 blocs and four proposed unions by the year, and 25 subregional and trade bodies join the organisations pages.
  • The season-as-a-shape grid reads by touch, a line beneath naming the game and what the model gave it, a row per team on a phone; before 1970 the playoff picture names the division a club led and stars played-off titles.
  • The Champions League hub shows one league-phase table, sized to its content with points beside the club, and lists which clubs went out in each qualifying round with the 36 that reached the league phase.

Scrub any NFL season, and a Housing tab

  • Every NFL season page gains a week scrubber: the chart, the standings and the playoff picture as they stood after any week, every season since 1920 by the tiebreakers of the era; game-log scores open their PFR box score.
  • The season-as-a-shape grid runs through the playoffs above a line, each column carries the team's abbreviation of that season (the 1999 Rams read STL), and a loss says what the loser had been given to win.
  • A Housing tab joins the Economy hub: FHFA house prices for 410 US metro areas since 1991, in real terms by default, ranked over one to twenty-five years and the 2007 crash, with a panel on 285 metro pages.
  • The college football board now says when the AP poll is late and it opened no picks, and records the market's closing price beside each frozen pick so it can say whether the early call held.

Policy rates to 1694, eighteen election hubs, NRL finals

  • A new Economy tab under Business: every policy rate decision of 60 central banks, eleven complete to their founding and the Bank of England from 1694, with a step chart and an every-change table per bank.
  • Eighteen election hubs join the atlas, from Peru and Thailand to Morocco, Cuba and Jamaica; East Germany, South Vietnam and the West Indies Federation stay in full as dissolved states, off the map and the countdown.
  • NFL upsets in the last two weeks no longer count a clinched team resting its starters as a shock, the shock tag marks one game rather than a whole Sunday, and every printed score follows the order of the names.
  • The Geography of Erasure now carries every franchise move the site knows, 126 of them, by decade and by league, with the metros that lost and gained the most, the distances, and who came back.

Eight new election hubs, heartbreak rebuilt, squads priced

  • Eight more election hubs, Sweden first on the countdown at six days, a sortable ranked directory of all 49, honest date badges, and a calendar feed you can subscribe to for every officially set election date.
  • A women's international basketball hub: every World Cup final four since 1953, every Olympic podium since 1976, the FIBA women's ranking and a page per nation, with the current World Cup tracked to its final.
  • Football club pages chart what each squad was worth month by month since 2012, year and league hubs gain against-expectation and value columns, and the continental tables on the 2026-27 hub show the full record again.
  • The Heartbreak Index now seats 318 national teams beside the clubs, one row per sport, weighs how big a club is today, and stops counting second place behind a dynasty as a lost race.

A century of NFL seasons, and two silent data faults

  • Every NFL season since 1920 has its own page: the week-by-week ratings, the final standings, the playoff seeds and the honours each team won, with the AAFC and AFL years rated against the NFL in one pool.
  • College football standings were showing no points for or against for any team in the country, and team pages sat at 0-0 all autumn. Both now read the live table.
  • The NFL hub leads with the current ratings beside the standings, carrying playoff and title odds from our own simulation of the rest of the season.
  • Fifteen NFL clubs had been drawing themselves white on the season charts, and long sections on the sports hubs now fold away on a phone rather than running to nine screens.

What a state can raise, and truer women's tables

  • The Order grid now weighs what a state actually collects and spends alongside its reach and mass, so a country sitting on size without the machinery to use it no longer scores as though it had both.
  • Two fiscal readings carry that measure rather than one, because a tax figure alone counts only what the central government takes and reads federal countries such as Germany as far weaker than they are.
  • Women's league tables had been showing last season's finished standings under this season's label when the data source lapsed. They now keep the last real table and flag the wait instead.
  • Each country on the grid now shows how far it sits from a different position. The nine positions are cuts through a continuous score, and 72 of 173 states sit within five points of a line.

Four books on every game, and a map of political order

  • Every NFL game is now priced at four books with each margin removed, and the Ledger shows how far each leans from the other three. NFL tables also stopped serving preseason records as the season.
  • A new Order section places every country on two measures, what a state can do and what holds it in check, and a second board tracks which way each one has been moving.
  • Motorsport counts seven championships rather than one, road cycling counts the Tour and the world title instead of Olympic medals alone, and women's ice hockey becomes a sport of its own.
  • Country pages now show a world rank in eleven more sports, women's basketball and water polo among them. Sailing counts the America's Cup, and handball no longer outscores tennis.

Predictions that show their uncertainty and their movement

  • Every prediction hub, the Ledger and Picks now share the site's hub design: one header and tab row, phone-sized lists instead of sideways tables, a sources card, and each team's week-over-week move, range and band.
  • The NFL and college football hubs add two views of the same season: a stats-only model and one that also listens to the market. The Ledger scores each so you can see what the market adds.
  • New tables name the games that matter most this week, measured by how far a win or a loss would move a team's playoff chances, and the teams sitting on the bubble.
  • Under the hood, uncertainty now tightens as the season plays out, related teams' errors move together, and neutral-site games such as the Rams and 49ers in Melbourne no longer hand anyone a home edge.

A century of corrected results, and steadier rugby tables

  • One league match per season, from 1892 to 1992, had been recorded the wrong way round. Forty of them credited the win to the wrong club. All forty-seven are now corrected.
  • The 8-0 in 1948 was Arsenal beating Grimsby, not Grimsby beating Arsenal; the 6-1 in 1973 was Leeds beating Arsenal. Every club's over- and under-performance is redrawn.
  • The Top 14, Gallagher Premiership and Champions Cup tables now come through reliably, with a saved copy behind them for the moments the upstream feed refuses a request.

Constitutions, a live club ranking, rugby and the EuroLeague

  • A new hub covers every country's constitution and a companion page counts the leaders who outlasted theirs: since 1789 the world has written 758 and replaced 555, and half are gone within fourteen years.
  • The 2026-27 club power ranking is live: 693 clubs across 52 leagues, refreshed daily, beside live UEFA club and country coefficients recomputed from this season's European results.
  • Live Standings adds four club boards: the Top 14, Gallagher Premiership and Champions Cup, with bonus points and tries, and the EuroLeague.
  • Standings tables now carry recent form and current streak and explain their own playoff cut, and a new site footer lets you report an error on whatever page you are reading.

The greatest club football games, ranked

  • The Greatest Games board adds club football: 260,000 matches since 1871 across top-flight leagues, UEFA competitions and ten major domestic cups, scored on closeness, stakes, quality and upset over one unified rating.
  • Second legs carry their leg and aggregate score and are judged on the tie; league stakes come from the live table under both historical points systems; home sides are listed first and neutral venues flagged.
  • Ten curated classics carry a star, Hampden 1960 to Istanbul 2005, each showing the model's own score on hover; Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona and the Lisbon Lions need no star, the model ranks them fourth and eighth itself.
  • Clubs appear under era names (Woolwich Arsenal, Ambrosiana-Inter) with crests, and club pages carry their greatest games; the original Ottawa Senators' Cups now link to the defunct club, not the modern namesake.

Six new election hubs, and a site that fits your phone

  • Elections gains six countries, Greece, Austria, Egypt, Portugal, the Philippines and Ireland, each with its full run of national contests and a page scoring how faithfully votes become seats.
  • Every long list on a phone now starts short and opens on request, table rows are tappable end to end, and metro pages lead with the rank instead of burying it.
  • In the arcade, tapping until the answer turns green no longer earns the celebration: knowing it first time and learning something new are now counted apart.
  • Champions League odds are refitted on thirty-three years of European results, and the greatest rugby tests are rescored so that shocks and open games stop being punished.

UEFA competitions get live hubs, brackets and predictions

  • Champions League, Europa League and Conference League hubs now lead with a live standings table, computed directly from the drawn fixtures rather than waiting on box scores to publish it first.
  • Each hub also carries a live bracket: who's through, who's out, and who holds a bye into the next round, updating as results land.
  • A new page, /predictions/ucl, prices each club's odds of winning the Champions League, seeded from UEFA's own coefficients and this site's club-strength data.
  • The Premier League predictions page adds a relegation battle board alongside its title race.

New universities, and maps that stop leaking

  • The world university rankings move to the 2026 edition: every rank and score refreshed, twenty-seven institutions added with their campus mapped to a metro, and last year's rank kept beside it.
  • Seven universities changed their names rather than arriving new, Osaka University among them, and each keeps the campus and metro already curated for it.
  • Every map on the site now draws its basemap through our own edge, which caches tiles closer to readers and keeps the map provider's key off the page.
  • Two maps were still calling a basemap host that was retired years ago; all five now share one definition, so they cannot drift apart again.

The board starts noticing what it is missing

  • Auckland City's fifth straight OFC Champions League title joins the board, and every current champion now carries a next-title date, estimated a year on and marked as an estimate where none is announced.
  • The heavyweight belts are corrected: the IBF lineage regains Usyk's 2025 win over Dubois and now reads vacant, as it is, and the WBA no longer records a win on the day the belts were actually vacated.
  • The Seahawks pass to the Khosla family after a unanimous NFL vote, and the Timberwolves join the watchlist while the Board of Governors waits to vote on Marc Stad's purchase of control.
  • A next-title date that passes now reads as overdue, and so does a competition contested recently with no champion recorded, which turned out to be eleven of them.

September belongs to the finals: AFL and NRL brackets go live

  • The AFL and NRL hubs now carry a live finals bracket: every tie from the wildcard round to the Grand Final with venues, dates and scores, and each club's premiership odds alongside until the cup is decided.
  • Live Standings gains a finals strip for both codes, so results land on the same page as the ladders they settled.
  • Minor premierships now award themselves the moment the home-and-away season ends, and the Grand Final writes its own history: premiers, honours and the champions ledger update with no hand on the wheel.

The Ledger: every forecast graded against the market

  • A new page, /predictions/scoreboard, scores every forecast this site has ever published against the closing market price -- not just whether we called it right, but by how much.
  • Across 20,978 graded games, the market has been closer than us by 1.5% in English football and 3% in the NFL; the 71 priced seasons behind those numbers name the nine we actually won.
  • Nine calibration bins ask whether a forecast that said '70% chance' has actually been right seventy times in a hundred, and four sport hubs sit open and empty until their first graded result arrives.
  • Elections aren't scored yet -- a seat-range forecast can't be graded until the seats are counted.

Every forecast we publish, now scored in public

  • The Ledger collects every forecast this site makes and scores it against the price the betting market closed at, nearly twenty-one thousand games that carried a price.
  • It opens with the unflattering number: across a century of English football and the NFL the market has been closer than our model, and the seasons we did win are named one by one.
  • A calibration table asks whether seventy per cent has actually meant seventy per cent, across every probability bin the model has ever used.
  • This season's hubs sit alongside the history, empty for now and saying so, each with the date its first result grades.

Every English club, measured against what was expected of it

  • English club pages now carry their whole top-flight life against the odds: a bar for every season above or below par since 1888, with the year the club most outran its rating and the year it most fell short.
  • Leicester's 2015-16 is the largest gap in 127 seasons, and the longest odds ever beaten belong to a Leicester side that went down that year and won at Anfield anyway.
  • Metro pages now answer for both sports in one place, football and the NFL, each in its own unit because a win has been worth two points and three and never the same as a touchdown.
  • Against Expectation collects it all, and finds home advantage collapsing in English football and the NFL alike: both peaked a century ago and have fallen ever since.

A century of expectation, season by season, yours to join

  • Every NFL season since 1920 now has its own page: the game log with what each result was supposed to be, the teams that beat their year, and the results nobody saw coming. The model-vs-market table now runs live.
  • Your picks land on the same axis: My Season scores your hard calls with the very Brier the 1920 ledger uses, and each NFL metro's page carries its century against expectation.
  • The company rankings join the Time Machine, with period-correct names on 500 more headline years; the year view adds the biggest company, the year's leaders, and Olympic crowns that no longer outstay their Games.
  • October is built early: MLB postseason series picks wait ready for the bracket, and every prediction hub is now linked from its sport's own pages.

College Football called, and every NFL game against expectation

  • College Football joins the prediction hubs and Citizen of Nowhere Picks: playoff, conference and national title odds for every FBS program, with the week's AP Top 25 games called and playable once each poll drops.
  • A new NFL board keeps the other half of the record: what each game was expected to do before it was played, and the model against the closing market since 1979. Green Bay have beaten expectation more than anywhere.
  • Domestic T20 champions now carry the name each club held that season, so The Hundred reads Oval Invincibles from 2023 to 2025 and Manchester Super Giants for 2026, whose first title now shows on Manchester's honours.
  • The baseball playoff board now shows each club's record, run difference and real position, so it is clear the order comes from the model rather than the table.

Formula 1 teams, where they build, and two valuation houses

  • Formula 1 teams get their own pages, counted as continuous organisations rather than chassis names. Team Lotus's 79 wins sit in one place at last, and Mercedes traces back through Brawn, Honda, BAR and Tyrrell.
  • Each team now shows where its cars were actually built, town by town and sourced. Ten of the eleven teams racing have a facility in England, and the six English factories fit inside sixty miles.
  • Every team page now settles the teammate argument, with qualifying and race head-to-head for each pairing. Schumacher out-qualified Barrichello 79 to 25 at Ferrari, and Albon beat Sargeant 33 to 1 at Williams.
  • The valuations board now carries two houses and shows the higher figure per team, source marked on every row. Formula 1, the WNBA and the NWSL join it, and the Owners board gains a researched owner for each new club.

The biggest companies, placed where they actually were

  • Every company on the rankings board now shows the metro area it was headquartered in that year, not today. Mobil counts for New York in 1980 and Washington in 1992; Georgia-Pacific leaves Portland for Atlanta.
  • A second board totals each year by metro. New York held 34 of 1955's hundred largest companies and holds 20 of 2026's, while San Francisco-San Jose rises from two to eleven and second place.
  • Open any metro row to see the places inside it: Detroit breaks into Highland Park, Auburn Hills, Southfield and Dearborn, each with its own companies, revenue and best rank.
  • 217 companies had their headquarters researched into dated eras, so every one of the 7,176 rows on the board now sits in a metro, and no name is left that we can prove wrong for its year.

Every year's biggest companies, back to 1955

  • A new board holds the largest American companies of every year since 1955, as the list was published at the time. Bethlehem Steel, Pan Am and Enron are all on it, because in their year they were giants.
  • Pick a year and read it straight down. 1955 opens with General Motors, Standard Oil of New Jersey and U.S. Steel. 2026 opens with Amazon, Walmart and UnitedHealth.
  • Companies are not merged across mergers. Exxon and Mobil each end in 1999 and ExxonMobil begins in 2000, because folding them together would erase the forty years Mobil stood on its own.
  • Names are marked rather than assumed. Our sources stamp each company's present-day name on all of its earlier years, so the board separates a name it can prove wrong from one it simply cannot date.

One hub for every time machine, and the Heartbreak Index

  • The Time Machine gathers the sixteen boards where you pick a moment and see the world at it. Choose a year and it answers from all of them, marks how fine a slice each board takes, and rotates the champions it shows.
  • The Heartbreak Index is open: one formula scoring every club we cover on droughts, lost finals, relegation and playoff exile. Toronto's Maple Leafs lead the world, and the IPL joins the board.
  • The countries board stops using today's names for yesterday's places. A 1900 view now reads Persia, Siam, Ceylon, the Gold Coast and the Dutch East Indies. In 1946 it reads Siam again.
  • East and West Germany gain thirty-five years of population each, the two Yemens fill their gaps, Vietnam splits into North and South, and the world total now runs to the current year instead of stopping short.

A century of markets, and baseball's rival leagues pulled apart

  • Every index and commodity now opens its own daily history. The Dow's runs back to 1885: 38,612 closes, including the Saturday sessions the New York exchange traded until 1952.
  • A comparison view puts any eight of the 39 indices, commodities and currencies on one axis, rebased to a common date, because a chart of the Nikkei beside the FTSE otherwise compares nothing.
  • Baseball's rival leagues now stand apart: October 1890 carries four championships at once. Brazil's two national titles of 1967 and 1968 separate too, and from November 1903 the World Series stands alone.
  • The Women's Super League and Liga F tables carry our own club names, Chicago Stars FC is renamed throughout, and the ownership board records the agreed sale of the Lakers.

Heavyweight boxing, era-correct champions, and NWSL odds

  • Every world heavyweight champion since 1885 is on the board, and because boxing recognises several at once you now see all of them: in June 2015 the unified belts and the WBC, held by different men.
  • The Time Machine names competitions as they were known at the time, with that era's tier: October 1983 reads European Cup and VFL Premiership. Rival leagues split too, so 1969 shows the Celtics and the ABA apart.
  • The Next title column works again, so every reigning champion shows the date their crown is next contested.
  • The NWSL joins the daily playoff and title odds, on Live Standings and the United States hub, and its tables now carry our own club names rather than the data provider's.

A time machine for champions: any month, any year

  • The Champions board gains a Time Machine. Pick a month and year and see who held every trophy at that moment, across 108 competitions and back to 1860.
  • Split titles are listed in full rather than collapsed to the latest - Michigan and Nebraska both held the 1997 college football title, each shown with the date it was won.
  • A month containing a handover shows both holders: in July 1990 Argentina hold the World Cup until the 8th, then Germany.
  • Competitions retire from the board once they stop being contested, so a month only ever shows the trophies that were genuinely being held in it.

Playoff races, marked and measured, across seven leagues

  • Every table on Live Standings now shades the teams in playoff position and draws the cut line, updated daily - from the NFL to the AFL's new ten-team wildcard finals and the CFL's crossover rule.
  • The AFL, NRL, WNBA, CFL, NPB and MLS join MLB with daily simulated odds: chance to make the playoffs and chance to win it all, computed from each club's remaining schedule and shown on Live Standings.
  • The AFL, NRL, WNBA, CFL and NPB hub standings carry the same odds columns and playoff shading, with each league's real finals format simulated - wildcard rounds, Climax Series advantage and all.
  • MLB standings now show World Series odds alongside playoff odds, on the hub and on Live Standings.

Supertall Skyscrapers: the vertical world, measured honestly

  • A new Geography page ranks every building over 350 metres and every standing structure past that height - television masts, chimneys and oil platforms included, filterable by type.
  • The two boards use different height measures, spelled out on the page: architectural height for buildings, tip-of-the-antenna pinnacle height for structures. Willis Tower is 442 metres by one and 527 by the other.
  • Skyline density boards show which metros actually built their towers, and when: half of Dubai's skyline has risen since 2010, against a quarter of Hong Kong's.
  • Every structure links to its metro page, placed by coordinates against our metro boundaries.

Citizen of Nowhere Picks: call the games, beat the model

  • A new weekly pick'em replaces Beat the Model in the arcade. Call every Premier League and NFL game blind - the model's probabilities reveal only after you commit - then watch the season grade you both by the same rules.
  • Rank your calls in the confidence pool for bonus points, and take a side on the Upset Radar: the games where our model and the betting market disagree most.
  • Sign in with Google to join the global leaderboard; the model plays as the house entry, so there is always someone to beat.
  • Premier League matchweek one locks August 21. The NFL joins September 10; college football, the Champions League and an MLB postseason edition follow.

Metros with accented names get their real addresses back

  • Metro pages whose names carry accents had web addresses that silently dropped them: Lodz was reachable only as /od, Hue as /hu. All 142 now read properly, and every old link redirects.
  • The damage clustered in Poland, Romania, Turkey, Czechia and Bosnia, because the rule behind it only ever handled Western European spelling.
  • Six competition pages are corrected the same way, among them Copa America and Brasileiro Serie A.
  • Six metros that share a name with another, Kochi and Cordoba among them, were missing their dimension rankings entirely. Those now show correctly.

The map gets honest: hundreds of metro boundaries corrected

  • An audit of every mapped boundary found metros measured over the wrong ground - a ring around the city, a namesake province far away, a shared county. Hundreds of boundaries are redrawn from better matches.
  • The Ground Floor follows the fix: air, nitrogen dioxide and water are now averaged over corrected territory, from Bogota and Minsk to Sarajevo, Windhoek and Davao.
  • Measured land area and population density update on every corrected metro page.
  • Three new reasoning games join Play & Learn: letter puzzles in Word Machine, number trains in Spot the Pattern and match-day logic in Riddle Stadium - every puzzle machine-checked to a single right answer.

Every Ground Floor measure now follows the people

  • Air, nitrogen dioxide and water were each read at one point, the metro's centre. All three are now averaged across the whole metro, weighted by where its people actually live.
  • That point flattered nobody. For most large metros the old centre reading sat in the worst tenth of anything residents breathe, and 1,720 metros have moved more than a hundred places.
  • Every metro page now carries its measured land area and the population density that follows, taken from its own mapped boundary rather than an administrative figure.
  • Two badge links from older essays work again, and Sound of the Metros, international rugby, cricket and basketball now refresh the week they are rebuilt.

The Ground Floor, and Play & Learn grows up

  • A second scoreboard opens. The Ground Floor ranks 4,269 metros not on what they have accumulated but on what they deliver: clean air, breathable streets, water you can count on.
  • Every metro now carries a gap - its power ranking against its ground ranking. The two are never merged, because the distance between them is the finding.
  • Play & Learn grows up: four new games past the easy tier, from Boolean logic on world alliances to binary search on a number line, plus an Expert level on the maths core four.
  • Champions Duel now spans 459 real finals across eight competitions, Be the Ref goes fully visual, and the games hub gains challenge and topic filters.

Live standings stay up even when the feed goes down

  • The US league boards - MLB, NFL, WNBA, MLS and the college football polls - now fall back to a snapshot refreshed every three hours, so an upstream outage no longer empties whole sections of Live Standings.

MLB playoff odds, currency history, and country pages rebuilt

  • A new MLB prediction hub joins the NFL and Premier League: World Series, pennant and playoff odds from 20,000 simulations of every game left on the schedule, with the races still open picked out.
  • Every country page is rebuilt around its map and its metro areas, with a jump-to nav, filterable and sortable tables, percentile context on each figure, and sections that stay short on a phone.
  • Every major currency card now opens a full history page: the euro from launch, the yen from its 360-to-the-dollar era, each charted daily against the dollar with its highs, lows and the countries that spend it.
  • Business boards and the music charts now read properly on a phone, the UEFA Nations League and the 2027 Asian Cup join Live Standings, and every shared link renders one consistent card.

The Owners: who actually holds the market

  • A ninth Business tab reduces every quarterly SEC 13F filing - 8,760 of them, $65 trillion reported - to a manager league table, from BlackRock's $5.7T down.
  • Asset-manager capitals rank metros by the money their institutions run: New York's $16T vault, then Boston and Vanguard's Philadelphia ahead of Chicago and London.
  • Who owns the giants shows the top holders of each of the world's biggest companies, and the most-widely-held board counts which stocks nearly every institution owns.
  • The business leaders board is now complete: all 107 seats resolved, with every CEO, fund chief and central banker verified and current.

Prediction hubs, and Business of the Metros: a full money hub

  • Prediction hubs go live: the Premier League simulated 20,000 times blending site data with market odds, and the NFL played through its real 272-game schedule to Super Bowl LXI - every pick frozen and graded all season.
  • Business of the Metros launches at /business: the Money Table ranks metros by headquartered market value, with the race to the first $5 trillion company, weekly movers, and country and region rollups.
  • Tabs for the top 500 companies (searchable to the full universe), 1,400 unicorns and their IPO graduates, the S&P 500 as a geography, benchmark indices tied to home metros, and every currency linked to its countries.
  • Business leaders tracked like political ones (CEOs, fund chiefs, central bankers, with a change log), plus crossovers: sporting vs corporate giants, state money with election links, and the owners of Sound and Screen.

Fourteen new kids games, and college football ready for kickoff

  • Fourteen new games on Play & Learn: Penalty Shootout, Crest Sort, Flag Flash, Champions Duel, a Who Runs the Country? civics trio, and a seven-game Year 3–4 maths arcade built from real crowds, badges and skylines.
  • The maths games cover the full primary syllabus – place value, times tables, fractions, shapes, time and charts – each with a Year 3 and a Year 4 level. Offside or Onside? is now a fully visual linesman game.
  • Count & Think games now show real club badges and country flags; Trophy Count counts real league titles. Every game's finish screen gains an All games button, and Capital Match adds a Quick trip mode.
  • College football is wired for kickoff: FBS conference standings and the AP, Coaches and CFP polls on the hub, with rankings joining Live Standings from 27 August. The 2026 US governors forecast joins the forecast page.

Club rankings reach back to 2006-07, cup matches included

  • The completed-season hubs now reach back to 2006-07: seven seasons from 2006-07 through 2012-13 join the run, each with country coefficients, round-by-round Europe, every league table and the cup finals.
  • Every season's power ranking now covers its full top-flight field. Clubs from leagues without match-by-match data are folded in from their final tables, so a season ranks around 700 clubs, not a partial few hundred.
  • A club's season record now folds in its domestic cup, super cup and intercontinental matches alongside league and Europe, and cup winners earn a trophy bonus, so results reflect the whole campaign.
  • The era's biggest winners lead their seasons: AC Milan in 2006-07, Manchester United in 2007-08, Barcelona's 2008-09 treble and Bayern Munich's 2012-13 treble.

Champions starred, and Europe told round by round

  • Every domestic league table across the completed-season hubs now marks its champion with a gold star, from the top five leagues down to the smallest.
  • Each hub's European and continental competitions are retold round by round, final first, with qualifying, group and knockout stages laid out clearly.
  • Club names across those tables now appear in their canonical modern form for consistency.

Completed-season club football hubs, a decade deep, with trends

  • Completed-season club football hubs now span 2016-17 through 2025-26: a club power ranking from form, pedigree and a trophy bonus, filterable by country, with a decade-grouped season index and previous/next links.
  • Each hub adds the five-year UEFA country coefficients, the European competitions with qualifying, group and knockout results, every final domestic table, and every cup winner including the old Club World Cup.
  • The Champions League winner tops each season — City's 2022-23 treble, Real Madrid in 2023-24, PSG in 2024-25 and 2025-26 — with each club's trophy contribution shown alongside its score.
  • A new Trends section charts the country coefficient race, club rankings season by season in club colours, and a form-versus-pedigree view, filterable by year range, country and top-N.

A live women's season hub, cleaner Club Football, and champions fixes

  • The women's club page gains a live 2026-27 hub: standings for Spain's Liga F, the NWSL and England's WSL plus the Women's Champions League, echoed on each country hub and the UWCL page.
  • Every Club Football page now carries the same section navigation and a back button, and the 2026-27 hub splits UEFA into three coefficient tiers with a collapsed Copa Libertadores.
  • The home page promotes Club Football under live standings and its in-season board self-updates, now adding the NFL, college football and college basketball, with UEFA competitions shown as live.
  • Champions now read from a single source: the Tour de France updates to its 2026 winner, and every reigning champion shows the date its crown is next contested.

The Screen of the Metros: a century of film, by metro

  • A new nine-tab film hub ranks metros, people and films on a century of US box office with Oscar prestige layered on top — era-normalized, director-weighted, and joined throughout by IMDb identity.
  • Every US number-one film since 1946 — 4,181 chart weeks browsable by decade, with reign leaderboards — alongside year-by-year box office almanacs carrying genres, directors and TMDB ratings.
  • Every Academy Awards ceremony since 1929, one night at a time — the Big Six with every nominee, winners in gold — plus the 500 greatest films mapped to the metros they are set or filmed in.
  • Sound and Screen now share a curated Culture menu in the top bar, and film joins the home page as Index 07.

Thirty-five election hubs, plus honest forecasts for the next elections

  • Twenty-six new election hubs in one day: thirty-five polities, 1,300+ contests — from royal Poland and 964 years of papal conclaves to Denmark's March 2026 snap vote, with a compact tier built for many more.
  • Unfree and managed votes recorded honestly throughout — Soviet single lists, Saddam's referendums, Singapore's tilted dominance — every entry carrying its label, with Russia, China and the Vatican badged on the card.
  • The conflicts atlas now spans 1500 to today with civil wars labelled and wartime elections marked, gathered on Elections Under Fire — plus landmark referendums, leader profiles, a world map and sortable tables.
  • New: election forecasts — seat ranges from thousands of simulations for the 2026 US midterms and the next UK vote, plus Brazil, Israel and New Zealand 2026 and France 2027, refreshed weekly and labelled as speculation.

Election history hubs: Britain, America, Canada and Europe

  • Four election hubs now chart every UK general election since 1802, every US presidential race since 1788, every Canadian federal election since 1867, and every European Parliament election since the first in 1979.
  • All 173 contests get their own page and story, now with the full sub-national picture: every UK constituency since 1918, every Canadian province back to 1867, and every EU member state's delegation by group.
  • Every chart is interactive and every chronology now runs newest first, from turnout arcs on four continents and the two-party grip to the Electoral College amplifier and the erosion of Europe's grand coalition.
  • New US and UK political leadership pages show who holds power now, including the full Supreme Court bench past and present, with time machines back through history, and country pages link it all.

World Cup champions, Nowhere 100 movement, leaders tracker, Zone Zero fixes

  • Spain's 2026 World Cup win now runs through the site: it joins Champions, national team pages show the final result instead of a live bracket, and the final enters the all-time Greatest Games top fifteen.
  • Wimbledon's Jannik Sinner and Linda Noskova and The Open's Ryan Fox join Champions, Andy Burnham replaces Keir Starmer as UK Prime Minister, and a new Leadership changes page logs each switch.
  • The Nowhere 100 now tracks week-to-week movement: everyone shows how many places they climbed or fell, new entries are flagged, and anyone who dropped off the list is named beneath the table.
  • The Zone Zero Cup is corrected and now refreshes weekly: Spain's World Cup lifts them to fourth overall, and a fault that had emptied tournament finals across national team pages is repaired.

Country facts, flags, dual units, and data corrections

  • Every country page gains an At a glance panel with its flag, official languages, currency, government, time zones, national anthem and more, and every section now collapses for easier phone reading.
  • Distances and elevations across the site now show both metric and imperial, so kilometres and metres always sit beside miles and feet.
  • Fixed missing economy figures for several countries including Egypt and Slovakia, and MLB standings now show the current season instead of jumping a year ahead.
  • Amsterdam now absorbs Almere and Lelystad into one metro, the countries list sorts by score by default, and the Power Atlas is correctly dated from 1500.

Mobile tables, kids games, Origin 2026, and Tour de France in Champions

  • Every ranking and stats table across the site now has a phone-friendly card view, with sticky sort controls and screen-reader support, so data reads and sorts on mobile instead of overflowing sideways.
  • New South Wales win the 2026 State of Origin series 2-1 at Suncorp Stadium, and Google sign-in on the Following page now stays signed in and syncs your followed metros and teams across every device.
  • A new Play & Learn section adds curriculum-aligned games for ages 5 to 10: find the oceans and continents, match world capitals, place ancient empires on the map, and more, built from the site's own data.
  • The Tour de France joins Champions with its full honour roll of winners back to 1903 and the reigning champion, and the Leaders time machine adds India's Shunga and Satavahana dynasties.

European club competitions join Live Standings, football tidied

  • Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League fixtures now show on their tournament pages and on Live Standings, which lays football out as internationals and European cups beside the domestic leagues.
  • In-season competitions keep a green live marker even when collapsed, so you can tell at a glance what is currently running.
  • Golf's majors now list the missing Open venues, with Royal Portrush and Turnberry joined to their metros, and Portugal's leadership history runs back to Afonso I in 1139.
  • The Leaders time machine now spans antiquity with 42 new historical powers, and the Power Atlas extends to 1500: benchmark-based shares for the age of Ming China, the Mughals, the Ottomans and the Habsburgs.

Google sign-in now returns you to the right page

  • Signing in with Google now keeps you logged in and returns you to the page you were on, instead of bouncing back with an error.

Velvet Rock goes trans-Pacific with Tokyo and city pop

  • Velvet Rock is rewritten as a trans-Pacific story: Tokyo joins Los Angeles, New York, and London as a fourth primary capital, and Japanese city pop enters the Master Tape, reshaping the affinity table.
  • On phones, the radial World Cup knockout bracket now shows the flags for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final, matching the desktop view instead of collapsing them to dots.

Sortable #1 singles per metro, plus Power Atlas year steps

  • Every metro's Sound page now lists its chart-topping #1 singles as a sortable table, newest first by default, with click-to-sort by year, single, artist, or chart.
  • The Power Atlas year selector gains previous and next arrows, so you can step through history one year at a time alongside the slider.
  • Privacy now sits in the About menu for easy access.

Homepage polish: clearer intro and roomier layout

  • The homepage masthead now clears the navigation with room to breathe on mobile, each Explore shortcut gains a one-line description with a fuller tooltip, and the live sports and live music links are cleanly separated.

The Power Atlas: 235 years of world power, ranked

  • The Power Atlas, a new hub at /power-atlas, ranks every country's share of world power year by year from 1789 to today, with latent-versus-recognised lenses and a rising-and-fading divergence view.
  • Power now runs through the site: the Leaders time machine sorts any year by its share of world power, the Countries directory gains a power column, and every country page charts its latent-versus-recognised arc.
  • The Leaders directory goes deep: succession back to each state's founding, defunct empires from Rome and the Ottomans to Prussia and the Soviet Union, plus support for BC dates.
  • Also shipped: cricket and rugby union Greatest Games, a daily Live Charts hub, a new Geography hub at /geography, and a rebuilt directory-forward homepage with the metro rankings now at /rankings.

The Sound of the Metros: where the hits come from

  • A new Sound of the Metros hub ranks cities by their artists' chart success on the US Billboard and UK top ten since 1958, blended with worldwide album sales and tied to every metro on the map.
  • It spans three lenses, artist profiles with per-single billing, decade and year filters, scenes, number-one machines, longest reigns, chart disagreements, and the transatlantic divide.
  • Metro pages gain a signature era, a distinctiveness and per-artist reading, and recent songs mature over two years so streaming-era staying power no longer eclipses a finished career.
  • Artist rankings now blend Grammy prestige with the BRIT, American Music, MTV Video and Europe, ARIA and Juno awards and Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums, shown in an Awards History hub with per-artist badges.

World Cup results now go live within the half-hour

  • The Geography and Sports menus were reorganised: Geography now groups places, power and people, and geopolitics, and Sports opens to the full league directory by sport family plus every cross-sport tool.
  • World Cup results update from the live feed within about 30 minutes, advancing the bracket automatically; knockout fixtures now show kickoff times in your timezone and sort in match order.
  • The World Cup section is now tabbed for bracket, title odds and groups; the radial bracket reveals each matchup, kickoff and venue on hover, and title odds now drop every eliminated team.

Most Powerful People ranking, States directory, US leadership

  • A new Most Powerful People ranking places the world's leaders, central bankers, institution heads, mayors, and billionaires on one Metro Power scale with a published methodology.
  • A new States directory ranks first-level subdivisions worldwide the way Countries does, dividing each metro's score across the states it spans by their share of its population.
  • The US page now spans the full federal government — President and Cabinet, 100 senators with party balance, House leadership, and governors for all 50 states and five territories.
  • Organisation hubs gained current leaders and histories for NATO, the UN, and the EU; Palestine, Kosovo, and the Vatican's papal line were added; realms now list their PM first.

World Cup fixes, more leader history, mobile Countries data

  • World Cup group tables are now computed from match results and reorder by the official tiebreakers, and the Round of 32 shows the real fixtures as drawn.
  • The Live Standings page now follows the World Cup into the knockout rounds once the group stage is complete, rather than holding on the group tables.
  • Added Romania's leadership history and extended Austria's to the 1526 Habsburg Monarchy; Iran's current Supreme Leader now carries the warning mark.
  • On phones, the Countries directory now reveals the columns hidden on small screens (Score, Metros, Leader, Continent) when you tap a country.

Deeper leadership histories, a Since column, and Interstate Wars

  • Leadership history now spans ~100 countries, several traced to their founding dynasties (France to Charlemagne, Russia to Ivan III), with a sortable in-office date for each current leader.
  • The directory leads with the head of government where the president is ceremonial, with crowns for monarchs and warning marks for leaders tied to atrocities, constitutional subversion, or criminal conviction.
  • Two new hubs: Interstate Wars since 1945 (wars between states, belligerents linked) and Billionaires (the Forbes real-time list by net worth, country and industry), each also on country pages.
  • The leaders, interstate-wars and billionaires datasets all refresh automatically from open data (weekly or monthly) and update the site with no deploy.

WC2026 bracket, country leadership history, and Alliances & Orgs

  • The World Cup section transitions automatically from group tables to a full knockout bracket as results arrive — no manual update or Vercel deploy required.

  • Country pages now show a collapsible leadership history table covering heads of state and government since independence or earliest recorded office.
  • New Alliances & Orgs hub: maps every country's standing across 18 international organisations from NATO to OPEC, with gold badges for full members.

  • The hub also maps the modern NFL International Series, every regular-season game played abroad since 2007, each linked to its host metro and country.

Live Standings hub, live golf, tennis, cricket, and an NFL Rules Lab

  • Crest coverage spans the US majors, European and English football, AFL, NRL, CFL, IPL and domestic T20, WNBA, NWSL, EuroLeague, CBA, handball and college sport, plus new F1 constructor logos.
  • Current Champions now shows a flag for every national-team title, metro team lists group by sport then titles, and women's college programs reuse their school crest.
  • Also new: a /play hub of kids and adults rules games, plus a Games arcade with Beat the Model, Metro Globle and the daily Metro and Sports grids.

  • Both new sports join the /sports/rivalries board, sortable and filterable alongside the existing thirteen.

Sports Rivalries across every league

  • The Zone Zero Cup now scores golf and tennis, water polo, futsal, table tennis, badminton, lacrosse, and a women's layer with women's basketball built from Olympic medal history.

  • The golf and tennis hubs light up live during each major, and the Wales page now shows the England and Wales cricket team.

The Zone Zero Cup: a national sporting-merit ranking

  • New Zone Zero Cup at /sports/zone-zero-cup ranks every nation's sporting merit across twelve sport pillars, blending decayed achievement with live world rankings, in overall, per-capita and per-GDP views.
  • Built like a Directors' Cup for nations: each country's best ten sports, recency weighted hard, flagship World Cups boosted, Winter discounted, and suspended nations decayed. Sortable, filterable, methodology published.
  • Current world rankings added to their hubs: IIHF men's ice hockey, WBSC baseball, and the FIFA Women's World Ranking, with the hockey and baseball rankings also feeding the Zone Zero Cup's live-standing layer.
  • Adds a twelfth Cup pillar, Women's Football (World Cup, Euros, Finalissima, FIFA ranking), and weights men's continental titles by confederation strength, so a Gold Cup counts below a European Championship.

NHL Conference Finals elimination fix and football refresh

  • Vegas advances to the Stanley Cup Final and Colorado correctly flips to Eliminated Conference Finals on every NHL franchise page after a sweep in the Western Final.
  • Patched the playoff-state builder so any Conference Finals loser is marked eliminated as soon as the opposing finalist clinches; previously the loser stayed flagged active until the next round opened.
  • Refreshed club football data: European tournaments, the five-plus-three league hubs, season tables, and the global club index now reflect the latest workbook state.

International Football launches; European league expansion and polish

  • Club Football now covers the Eredivisie, Primeira Liga, and Scottish Premiership alongside the existing five top flights; Scotland is wired down to League Two.
  • Club season tables flag Domestic Cup and European finals inline: filled pill plus star for winners, outlined pill plus open star for runners-up; major cups use country labels, secondary cups read Lg Cup.
  • Club page polish: standings on phone hide secondary columns; desktop numeric columns space evenly; European competition pills use era-correct abbreviations (EC, UC, ICFC) and sort within a season.

Football v0 plus polish: maps, filters, badges, deep links

  • Canonical pages for every club that has played top-flight football in England, Spain, Italy, Germany, or France, plus full coverage of the English pyramid through National League.
  • Each club page renders season-by-season standings, cup finals, and European appearances with star-marked gold/silver Cup Winner badges and team color balls throughout.

  • Filterable map on /teams/football with country chips, multi-select level, and year slider plus step buttons; deep-linked from /sports, the Sports menu, and every metro page team card.

Capital-district polygons resolve via name fallback

  • Belgrade and other capital-district metros where Overture lacks an ISO 3166-2 sub-region tag now resolve to polygons automatically, with no manual workbook fills required.
  • Monaco and Vatican City route through the correct sheet so their quarter and parish rows feed the polygon build instead of being silently filtered.
  • Cache invalidation now picks up wiring changes on its own: routing maps, sheet maps, REGIONLESS membership, and sheet schemas all feed the version hash so a forgotten --force can no longer mask a rebuild.
  • Newly resolved to polygons: Pakistan, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, North Korea, Zimbabwe, Samoa, Fiji, Niger, Congo, C├┤te d'Ivoire, Barbados, Bhutan, plus Cayenne in French Guiana via a sheet-routing fix.

Eight more countries resolve to polygons, plus pre-push coverage check

  • Albania, Armenia, Aruba, Bolivia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cameroon, Cyprus, and Zambia newly resolve to administrative polygons across the home, country, and Expandable Map views.
  • Boundary build pipeline gains a public-data sanity check that flags newly-keyed countries producing zero polygons pre-push rather than post-deploy.
  • Home rankings overlay now uses the same combined-boundaries fetch as the Expandable Map, dropping the per-page request burst that was tripping edge protections.

Mass boundary expansion across dependencies, territories, and small states

  • West Bank and Gaza now render after a cross-border join-key fix; Israeli West Bank settlements union into the Jerusalem metro polygon via the same route.
  • Dozens of newly resolved jurisdictions: Bermuda, Turks and Caicos, BVI, Gibraltar, Anguilla, Saint Helena, Montserrat, Falklands, Macau, Guam, US Virgin Islands, Jersey, Guernsey, and ├àland.
  • Mass mid-size country wiring: Madagascar, Mozambique, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tanzania, Morocco, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovenia, Iceland, and roughly thirty-five more newly resolve to polygons.
  • Expandable Map: one combined-boundaries fetch instead of thousands, multi-select Regions on home and Expandable Map, tier toggles preserve the map viewport, and a new None button clears all tiers.

Middle East and Central Asia boundary expansion

  • Eleven countries newly resolve to administrative polygons: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates.
  • Palestinian territories render with West Bank and Gaza Strip governorates handled through dedicated Overture extracts; Israeli West Bank settlements render via the same cross-border routing.
  • UAE metros use city-level polygons where Overture has them and hand-curated polygons for the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman conurbation and Al Ain, replacing the oversized emirate fallbacks.
  • Country populations refreshed for roughly thirty countries with 2025 and early-2026 national estimates; per-metro detail pages refresh against the latest workbook edits.

Sweeping boundary expansion across continents and territories

  • A wider cohort of countries resolves to administrative polygons: Bangladesh, Chile, New Zealand, Nepal, Philippines, Senegal, Serbia, Thailand, Uruguay, and a tail of Caribbean and Pacific states.
  • Small territories and city-states pick up their first polygons: Hong Kong, Isle of Man, R├⌐union, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Mayotte, Cayman Islands, and most Pacific micronations.
  • Greece, Indonesia, and Taiwan complete their polygon fills from the prior matcher batch and now render administrative shapes alongside their newly added peers.
  • Per-metro detail pages refresh against the latest workbook edits to Universities, Top Sports Teams, and stadium data.

Country boundary expansion, small-jurisdiction polygons, top-teams fixes

  • Argentina, Algeria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Ghana, Hungary, Moldova, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela now resolve to administrative polygons rather than single coordinate pins on the rankings and metro maps.
  • Singapore and Puerto Rico now resolve to their full administrative footprints instead of single pins; Singapore population corrected to roughly 6.1M, with the score and ASEAN regional shares recomputed downstream.
  • Malta and Liechtenstein pick up polygons; ISO 3166-2 region codes wired so the boundary builder resolves every subdivision. Vatican City still pending a matcher tweak for its country-subtype row.
  • Top Sports Teams: Berlin (Alba Berlin) and Buenos Aires (Boca / River) rationales corrected after a cross-paste sent Real Madrid and Bayern Munich content into the wrong rows; Arsenal stat refreshed on London.

Badge maps for every badge, deeper map zoom-out

  • Every badge page now ships a filtered map under the hero: tier-colored markers, continent and tier toggles, click-through to /rankings, and bounds refit so filter changes zoom in on the visible set.
  • Map applies automatically to every live badge in lib/badges.ts BADGES; adding a new badge to the registry gives that badge a map with zero per-badge wiring.
  • Shared formatContextValue helper moved from the badge page into lib/badges so the map tooltip and the row list format the per-row value (population, market cap, distance, percentage, score) identically.
  • All maps: zoom moves to bottom-right and attribution to a discreet bottom-left line so neither covers corner markers; minZoom drops from 2 to 1 so readers can pull out to a full planet view.

Side feed, map fixes: pin, refit, world-wrap

  • New sticky side feed sits next to the rankings at lg+: Discover (Sports first), every live badge in a compact grid, latest essays from the journal, and Random metro plus Methodology CTAs. Wraps below the table on tablet.
  • Map: primary metro pin and its tooltip move to custom Leaflet panes above the boundary polygon (pin z-index 670, tooltip 690); hover and click work at every zoom and the tooltip floats above the pin itself.
  • Map: filter changes zoom into the visible set more aggressively (padding tightened from 15% span to 6%); animated 0.5s fit so toggles read as motion rather than a jump cut.
  • Map: world-wrap on. Continents repeat horizontally and worldCopyJump keeps markers seamless when the user pans across the antimeridian; no more hard edge of the world.

Home reordered: rankings land in the first viewport

  • Hero tightened to three rendered lines (eyebrow, headline, subhead); the rankings table now sits roughly 160 pixels below the top of the content area on a typical laptop.
  • Hero search input removed; the RankingsTable's built-in search owns the affordance, and the '/' keystroke shortcut now focuses that input from anywhere on the page.
  • Discovery strip (Badges, Sports, Top Teams, Latest essay) moves below the rankings table so readers see the data first and the entry points second.

Vocabulary sweep: metro replaces city across the site

  • Descriptive copy across home, about, methodology, neighborhoods, top-teams, llms.txt, and league pages now refers to metros / metropolitan areas / urban areas; generic 'city' is dropped as the unit of analysis.
  • Tier names rename City to Metro across Continental, Established, Emerging, and Local; URL slugs unchanged so inbound links and share cards keep working.
  • Allowed exceptions kept: Primary City as a data field, GaWC World Cities, Oxford Global Cities Index, and other proper-noun citations; literal city names like Mexico City, Kansas City, Quebec City.
  • Search placeholders updated: Find a metro on the home page, Search team or metro on the sports page. The Team That Wins the City essay title preserved for inbound-link integrity.

Home redesigned: search hero, discovery strip, filtered map

  • Hero compressed to three lines plus an inline search-with-autocomplete; keyboard '/' focuses the input from anywhere on the page.
  • Discovery strip between hero and rankings: four cards point at Badges, Sports, Top Teams, and the latest Substack essay so the surfaces buried in the menu now have a home-page entry.
  • Map moves back inside the rankings table block and tracks whatever filter is active (Top 25 by default, narrows with continent/region/search) instead of showing a fixed top-N slice.
  • Rankings table columns and behavior are unchanged: Rank, Metro Area, Region, Primary City, State, Population, Score.

Scope copy, sitemap, team JSON-LD, error pages, country-link fix

  • Scope copy across the site drops hardcoded counts for qualitative language; home stats grid reshaped from brittle counts to positioning tiles (Global / Composite / Curated / Open).
  • Sitemap adds the per-state route system, four /teams/{league} indexes and historical pages, every franchise page, and /sports; SportsTeam JSON-LD now ships on every franchise page.
  • Root not-found and error pages added; uncaught exceptions and missing slugs now render a navigable fallback with site nav rather than the default Next bare screen.
  • Country links from state pages now resolve correctly; the slug builder was producing values like antigua-&-barbuda that did not match countries.json. 123 references repaired.

Round 2 playoffs, arena fix, data refresh, RU/IE/BE polygons

  • Conference Finals chips now appear on NBA and NHL team pages; brackets reflect the live Round 2 results across both leagues.
  • NBA stadium-history regains five multi-tenant arenas that previously rendered with blank city, metro, and state on historical franchise pages.

  • League chips wear ≡ƒÑç for Gold Standard (sport apex) and ≡ƒÑê for Major League non-Gold; sort gold > silver > other. Same medals now appear on metro page TeamCards next to each team's league.
  • Federation sub-filter (UEFA / CAF / AFC / CONCACAF / OFC / CONMEBOL) appears when the International Teams Special Filter is on; Level filter uses the workbook column (1/2/3, College, Junior, etc).
  • Filter chips light up when an upstream filter narrows scope; per-category Clear links. Tooltip shows team / sport ┬╖ league ┬╖ level / location. NBA playoff badges link to Wikipedia; ABA in slate.

  • Every team page now shows Wikipedia and Wikidata badges, a Top Team chip when the franchise is that metro's named pick (cross-metro picks like the Packers for Milwaukee included), and a back-to-league link.
  • Hero says 'Founded: / Metro Area:' separately so it no longer implies the franchise was founded in its current metro; metro pages show MLB chips and links alongside NFL; stadium names deep-link to the metro map.
