Every club starts at 1500 (an expansion club from 2027 starts at 1425, where new clubs have tended to finish in their first season) and each result moves two clubs by the same amount, more for an upset and more for a bigger margin. Home ground advantage is larger when the visitor has flown interstate, absent at neutral sites, and ratings drift back toward the average between seasons. Scored on seasons it never saw (2010 to 2025), it picks the winner 64.3% of the time, against 58.2% for always backing the home side, and its margin forecasts miss by about 13 points.

Grand Finals

State of Origin

Rugby league's interstate series and the fiercest rivalry in Australian sport: New South Wales against Queensland, a best-of-three contested every winter since 1982 for the State of Origin shield. The 2027 series is played in June and July.

Series result is the winner's match record across the three games. A drawn series (1999, 2002) leaves the shield with its current holder.
