Malkin and Ledecky bought the club in 2014 for $485M; Malkin is the controlling owner. Sportico reported on 28 Sep 2026 that the Islanders agreed to sell roughly 15% to a handful of investors at a $3B valuation, subject to NHL approval, with one investor able to own up to 10%, and that the club had named venture investor David Shuman as a new minority owner about four weeks earlier; Field Level Media (via Reuters, 29 Sep 2026) carried the same figures. The investors beyond Shuman have not been named, and governance is unchanged.
