19 July 1992 · Đổi Mới opens a narrow door · 395 seats, 198 for a majority

Communist Party of Vietnam finished first with 362 of 395 seats. Turnout 99.1%. Võ Văn Kiệt stayed in office.

Every candidate, party member or not, still had to be nominated through the Communist-led Fatherland Front, and non-party and independent candidates never took more than a few dozen of several hundred seats.
