2007 Philippine Senate Election

Opposition sweep

May 14, 2007 · Half-Senate midterms and the party list · 12 of 24 seats contested, 13 for a Senate majority

A midterm rebuke of Arroyo after the 'Hello Garci' recordings: the Genuine Opposition won 7 seats to 3 for Arroyo's TEAM Unity, and Antonio Trillanes was elected from a military detention cell. TEAM Unity's Juan Miguel Zubiri, 12th, resigned in 2011 after an electoral protest showed Koko Pimentel had won the seat.
