General elections were held in Mexico on 5 July 1970. The presidential elections were won by Luis Echeverría, who received 86% of the vote.

Held under the hegemonic-party system: opposition parties appeared on the ballot, but the machinery of state made the official candidate's victory a foregone conclusion.
