2024 European Parliament Election

6–9 June 2024 · The polycrisis parliaments · 720 seats, 361 for a majority · 27 member states

The first election of the post-Brexit Union returned a Parliament shifted rightward: the radical right now filled three groups, with Viktor Orbán's new Patriots for Europe becoming the third-largest, while the Greens and liberals gave back their 2019 gains. The EPP alone gained seats among the big groups, and Ursula von der Leyen was confirmed for a second Commission term.
