1988 Singaporean General Election
The first GRC election3 September 1988 · Dominance by design
General elections were held in Singapore on 3 September 1988 to elect members of Parliament. They were the eighth general elections since the introduction of self-government in 1959 and the sixth since independence in 1965.
Cleanly counted but structurally tilted: GRC wards, government-aligned media and litigation against opposition figures shape the field long before polling day.
