1946 Soviet Legislative Election

The first postwar vote

10 February 1946 · The Supreme Soviet rituals · 682 seats

Supreme Soviet elections were held in the Soviet Union on 10 February 1946. Originally scheduled for December 1941, the elections were delayed due to the outbreak of war with Germany in June of that year.

A single-candidate ritual of the Soviet state: one party-approved name per seat, with announced turnout near 100%. Recorded here as history, not as an election.
