1993 Nigerian Presidential Election

June 12 — won and annulled

12 June 1993 · The aborted Third Republic

Presidential elections were held in Nigeria on 12 June 1993. The elections were the first held since the 1983 military coup d'état which ended the Second Nigerian Republic.

Widely judged the freest election Nigeria had held — and annulled by the Babangida regime before official results were declared. The figures here are the credible collated returns. Abiola never took office.
