December 1946 – March 1947 · The Hashemite monarchy

During the al-Suwaidi government (February–June 1946), the electoral law of 1924 was revised. The number of seats in the Chamber of Deputies was increased to 138 and provinces were divided into smaller electoral districts.

A managed election of the Hashemite monarchy: narrow franchise, heavy palace influence over candidacies and results, and a parliament that answered to the court more than the voters. Recorded here as history, not a fully free election.
