Progressive Action Party finished first with 65 of 166 seats. Andrés Rivero Agüero replaced Fulgencio Batista.

Rebels publicly called for an election boycott before the vote, and the winner and every other elected official were unable to take office once the Cuban Revolution triumphed weeks later.
