2025 Canadian Federal Election
April 28, 2025 · The modern battleground · 343 seats, 172 for a majority
Mark Carney, Prime Minister for barely six weeks, led the Liberals to a fourth consecutive term in an election dominated by Donald Trump's tariffs and talk of annexation. The Liberals and Conservatives together took over 85% of the vote, the highest two-party share since 1958; Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre lost his own Ottawa-area seat even as his party gained ground.
