1988 Bangladeshi General Election

3 March 1988 · Zia, Ershad, and martial law · 300 seats, 151 for a majority

Jatiya Party finished first with 251 of 300 seats on 68.4% of the vote. Turnout 52.5%. Moudud Ahmed replaced Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury.

Nearly every major party, including the Awami League, the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and the Communists, boycotted; a Western diplomat at the time called it a mockery of an election.
