1954 Argentine Presidential Election

25 April 1954 · Perón's republic

The death of his wife and closest advisor, Evita, stuck President Juan Perón amid serious difficulties. A severe drought in 1952 and years of pessimism in Argentina's important agrarian sector depleted foreign reserves and forced Perón to curtail public lending and spending programs.

A vice-presidential and legislative vote under the same restrictions as 1951.
