For grown-ups: call-and-response rhythm, the standard way rhythm is taught in KS1/KS2 music and in instrumental lessons. Block width shows note length, so duration is visible before notation is readable; the symbol sits on the block so it is learned by association. Maths: a semibreve is 1, a minim ½, a crotchet ¼, a quaver ⅛ of a bar. Rhythms are generated fresh every round, so there is nothing to memorise, and scoring is on timing and on the right NUMBER of taps, so tapping fast cannot help. Ages 6–10.
