What it is for
The question this dataset answers, and the pages built from it.
To answer who held a title on any date, which metros win most, and when the next title is due. It feeds the Champions board, the per-competition honour rolls, the champions time machine and every metro's championship history.
Each row is one title: the competition, the season and year, the champion as it was named then and as the club is known now, the metro it played in, and the date the title was awarded where it is known.

Data dictionary
Every field the public pages show: its key in the data, what it means, its unit and how often it is filled.
How filled is counted
Filled is the share of rows that carry a value for the field. For counts and money a second line gives the share that is not zero, because a zero there means none recorded rather than a missing value. A share never rounds up to 100% unless every row is filled.

Method
The short version; the full method lives on the pages linked below.
ReviewedChampions are curated by hand from the governing bodies' records; consistency scripts run, but no invariant test. About the tiers
- Hand-kept in the Champions History workbook and emitted row for row; team pages and league hubs are linked at render time.
- Franchise lineages kept under two names are unified on the canonical name, while the champion's era name is kept for display.
- A metro is the era-correct one: where the club played when it won, corrected where the workbook was found wrong.
- The Current board reads the reigning champions at runtime, so a title recorded overnight shows without a rebuild.

Changelog
Release notes that mention this dataset, from the public log at /updates.
- College football's season archive and champions chart now admit a season the day its champion is recorded, rather than waiting for February; neutral-site games on the live strip read vs instead of at.
- New on Champions: titles held by whoever last achieved them, each with a full honour roll: tennis's Calendar Grand Slam, the International and European Trebles, rugby's Grand Slam and undisputed heavyweight champions.
- The Triple Crown is now open-ended too, and nine motorsport titles from MotoGP to Formula E carry their next title date; Elfyn Evans is the new WRC champion.
- Hubs for the Süper Lig, Liga MX, Brasileirão and Argentina's Primera, with every official champion and Brazil's 28 state championships. 386 clubs gain pages; the MLS hub adds the NASL.
- Motorsport gets a home: thirteen champion rolls across ten series, each its own scrolling block, every circuit mapped to its metro, and a NASCAR page with team bases.
- Two cricket champions are in: Antigua & Barbuda Falcons won the Caribbean Premier League on 20 September, and Galle Gallants won the Lanka Premier League on 8 August.
