CITIZEN OF NOWHERE: OWNER NETWORK
Ownership records current to 2026-10-26.

WHAT THIS IS
Who controls which sports club, as a network you can load into Gephi or a
spreadsheet. Every ownership link carries an evidence class and, where one
exists, a source link.

THE FILES
entities.csv     One row per node: id, name, type (owner, club or league),
                 owner_type (individual, family, consortium and so on, owners
                 only) and league (clubs and leagues).  1618 rows.
links.csv        One row per link: source, target, relation, stake_label,
                 evidence, source_url, source_date, note.  1696 rows.
                 relation is one of:
                   controls     the owner holds control of the club. One
                                controller per club.
                   co-controls  a further entity the records name as sharing
                                control of the club.
                   minority     a minority holder the records name.
                   in_league    the club plays in the league.
                 note carries co-controllers and minority holders the records
                 give only as text, and any remark attached to the holding.
gephi-nodes.csv  Id, Label, Type: the same nodes, in the columns Gephi expects.
gephi-edges.csv  Source, Target, Type (always Directed), Weight (always 1, it
                 carries no meaning), Relation: the same links, same columns.
SHA256SUMS.txt   SHA-256 checksums of the other files.

HOW OWNERS ARE GROUPED
Where one person or company controls clubs under different names (an investor
and its holding company, say), a registry of aliases folds them into one owner
node. A minority stake never merges two owners.

EVIDENCE CLASSES
sourced        A primary source is linked: the league, the club, a filing or a
               tier-one outlet.
cross-checked  Matched against the weekly ownership-change sweep; no single
               primary source is linked.
contested      Disputed or mid-sale. The recorded owner holds control today.
in_league links have no evidence class: they are not claims about ownership.

READ THIS FIRST
A link is a record of control, not a claim about anyone's intent or conduct.
Ownership changes, and the records are reviewed weekly. Check the source and its
date before relying on a link.

WHAT IS NOT HERE
No valuation figures. Team valuations are compiled by third parties (Forbes,
Sportico, Football Benchmark and others) and are not ours to redistribute.
Linked source pages stay with their publishers.

FORMAT
UTF-8, comma separated, LF line endings, no byte order mark. Rows are sorted, so
a rerun on unchanged records produces identical files.
